Our school has an open door policy and welcomes parents and volunteers into the classrooms and values their assistance in a variety of programs.

Every year Sale and District Specialist School receives numerous enquiries and requests throughout the year regarding opportunities in the following areas:  

  • Employment
  • Volunteering
  • Student teacher practicum placements & work experience
  • Practicum placements for associated areas of study

Volunteering Opportunities

We always need committed volunteers to assist with programs such as swimming, community access, horse riding, literacy programs and excursions. All volunteers including parents must have a current Victorian ‘Working with Childrens’ card. For further information regarding this see the section below.

Practicum Placements & Work Experience

Sale and District Specialist School is committed to supporting and enhancing the skill development of future teachers who are interested in the area of special education.  We also recognise a responsibility to provide a wide range of experiences for students undertaking study in associated fields, community service placements and work experience placements. All people 18 years and over wishing to undertake placement must have a current Victorian ‘Working with Childrens’ card. See below.

Working with Children Check (WWC Check)

All schools are required to ensure student safety and supervision by insisting that parents/volunteers have suitable Working with Children Checks. Please contact the office for information if you need to organise one of these.
